Dear Mother:

P.S.I., 149 College St.,

Toronto, Ontario

July 17th, 1916

Was out to the apartment yesterday all day but felt to tired to write letters. Result was I didn't write any. The heat is awful but we are all thankful that we didn’t have to go to Camp Borden. There is a rumor afloat that we shall have to go very soon.---perhaps this week but I don't know how much truth there is in it.

Jim Paterson was down for the weekend and had some strange and wonderful tales to tell about it (the heat). Carman is getting along o.k. Was over to see him yesterday. By the way N.C.O.’s and men are to be granted a month’s leave for harvesting and I’m going to apply therefor. I will let you people know just when I want you to send me a letter requesting my services. I will have to finish this course which will take until the first week in August. Carmen is going to do the same when he gets out of quarantine (measles). You said something about a present for Flex Barkwell and Etta Stothers.

Count me in when getting them. Yours Constantly, Cannon
