16/7/17

Woodcock Park, Epsom Surrey

Dear Mother:

Well another week has passed over here but don't expect to stay too long.

My health is pretty fair but when I walk any little distance I'm short of breath & have pain in my right lung.  There is no doubt that the bullet passed thro my lung & I suppose that is the cause.  Am still walking with a stick but perhaps soon will be jake.

Haven't seen John yet as he could not get up last weekend but I hope he can soon.  However he sent me your letter of June 24th which I was very glad to get.  I hope Jessies health is improving but of course the holidays will find her alright.  It is only natural that she will be feeling rotten just at the end of the term.

Give my best regards to relatives and neighbors, but tell them I will hardly be home for the fair.  It's perhaps unavoidable but I will do my best.  With love and kindest regards to all

Yours, Carman.
